Woodridge Concrete Contractor — Four Decades of Housing, Four Different Jobs

Woodridge spans a wider range of construction eras than most of the villages we serve, from 1970s subdivisions through the newer development around Seven Bridges. What a property needs here depends almost entirely on when it was built, and the two ends of that range call for opposite work.

The Older Sections: Replacement

In the 1970s and 80s neighbourhoods we are usually tearing out tired driveways, walks and stoops that were poured thin, on minimal base, frequently without air entrainment. Surface scaling across a whole slab is not a cosmetic problem and it does not stop; once the paste at the surface is gone every freeze takes a little more. Replacement on a properly built base is the honest answer, and the replacement lasts.

The Newer Sections: Outdoor Living

Around Seven Bridges and the later subdivisions the projects are larger and additive: stamped patios, seat walls, fire pit surrounds and pool decks designed as a single piece rather than assembled over several seasons. Designing the whole space first and phasing the pours costs less than three separate projects and is the only way the levels, colours and joint lines actually align.

The Driveway Crossing Fails First

Across every era in Woodridge, the concrete that goes first is the few feet of walk that cross the driveway. That section carries vehicle loads the rest of the walk never sees, and a walk poured at four inches is fine underfoot and inadequate under a car. If your walk is sound everywhere except the crossing, that is a design problem rather than an age problem. We pour that section at five to six inches with the joint placed where the load changes.

Pool Decks Belong in the Pool Conversation

If a pool is part of the plan, the deck should be designed with it rather than after it. Slip resistance, expansion joints at the coping and drainage away from the shell are cheap decisions during design and expensive corrections later. We build inground concrete pools as well as decks, so both sides of that can sit with one contractor.
